Obsolete & Discontinued exhibition is confirmed for this September in Naples

On September 20, 2019 at 19:00 Magazzini Fotografia starts a new great season of exhibitions, bringing to its Obsolete & Discontinued rooms , a project that through the collection of discarded photographic materials, gives new life to analogical photography considered obsolete.

In March 2015, the British photographer and printer Mike Crawford received as a gift from a customer a large quantity of paper and obsolete photographic films: numerous boxes and packages, most of them older than 20-30 years, long since discontinued . Photographic paper has a usually limited shelf life but, with great amazement, after carrying out some tests, Crawford realizes that the results obtained are instead encouraging. The papers that seemed unusable and degraded responded well to modern printing techniques.

And it is for this reason that he decides to start the Obsolete & Discontinued project: Crawford brings together over 50 great names in photography and art, to accept the challenge of producing new works using that paper destined for waste paper.

Participating photographers: Melanie King, Jaden Hastings, Yaz Norris, Joan Teixidor, Angela Easterling, Peter Moseley, Tina Rowe, Helen Nias, Andrew Whittle, Brian Griffin, Robin Gillanders, Hiro Matsuoka, Gabriela Mazowiecka, Rosie Holtom, David Bruce, Andrew Firth, Borut Peterlin, Guillaume Zuili, Jim Lister, Nicola Jane Maskrey, Andy Billington, Asya Gefter, Beth Dow, Wolfgang Moersch, Anna C.
